Increase Blog Traffic Series

Did you know, that one of the most powerful tools you have in hands to boost your search engine rankings is to put links to other pages of your blog in every blog post you write?
A page within a site is being considered more important than other pages not only depending on how many inbound links are pointing to that particular page, but also on how often it is linked from within the site itself.

What you are telling the search engines when you put a link to another page within your site is, that page is more noteworthy than others, that is the reason I link to it.
The best way to implement this technique is to link from within a new blog post. Imagine, you are writing a post about Melbourne, and you have previously written a post about Australia. The word Australia is likely to appear in your post about Melbourne, so just link it to your older post on it.

Not only will this help you with your search engine rankings, it will give your readers far more possibilites of going deeper into your blog and find more valuable information.

Ways to link internally
The easiest way to install some basis internal links to all of your post is to incorporate a HTML-Sitemap into your blog. Look at my Sitemap page on top of this page to see, what it could look like.

If you look at the end of this article, you´ll see a list of related posts linking to 5 other posts from my blog related to this topic. I use a plugin to display them automatically so that´s really easy to do for your blog too.

At the end of a month, I always make post which lists up my best posts from that month. I call them September Greatest for example. I take some posts which attracted the most traffic in that month and put them together in a list and publish it. This way, I do not only strenghten them by putting another link, these lists are giving new readers a quick overview on what´s happening on my blog.

Don´t forget outbound links
Now, that you are going to implement more internal links in your posts (you are, right?) do not forget about linking out to other blogs ans share some link love with other bloggers. It will definitely come back to you at a time.
